Ryanair gouging the public again

Ryanair, maybe the worst airline in the world when it comes to gouging passengers, will start charging customers $160 per check in bag starting next summer, according to British media reports.

That would be the highest baggage fees in the world and you know if people pay it, other airlines will soon up their fees.

So, let me get this right - Ryanair charges $10 for a flight from London to Paris but with bag fees and taxes the fare quickly jumps to well over $300 - about what British Airways charges its customers.

During the low season, from October to May, Ryanair says the cost of the first bag will go up from $50 to about $95 and in the summer it will rise to $160. A second checked bag will cost you as much as $215.

The airline, which also plans to remove bathrooms and give passengers a plastic bag just in case, says they are introducing the new fares to discourage people from bringing too much luggage.

If this latest stunt by the world's worst airline doesn't discourage people from flying it, well then, the Irish and Brits who keep it in the air deserve what they get.

Ryanair a "Euro-peeing" airline

Ryanair, which has been criticized severely, especially in this corner, for even contemplating turning their on board washrooms into"paid toilets" complete with a coin slot, has solved the problem - they're getting rid of the bathrooms.

The fly-by-night Irish carrier says it's eliminating two of the three washrooms on its planes so it can squeeze in another six seats.

Passengers will be given "pee" bags just in case, though. 

What next - get rid of one of the engines to make the plane lighter and save on fuel ... or how about getting rid of the pilots (auto pilot will do) so more seats can be added to the cockpit area.

Ryanair in now the worst "Euro-peeing" airline and one wonders why anyone would trust this carrier.

Ryanair flight causes a dust storm

Ryanair touched off a dust storm of controversy today when it flew one of its planes into the "red zone" set up over Scottish airspace because authorities fear the dust cloud spewing from the erupting volcano in Iceland will cause harm to aircraft engines.

Ryanair, wanting to prove the authorities wrong, said its plane completed a one-hour "verification flight" up to 41,000 feet over Scotland this morning without incident. The aircraft took off from Glasgow Prestwick, flew to Inverness, on to Aberdeen and down to Edinburgh.

European authorities ground planes when the volcano erupts and ash enters airspace because they fear the dust may harm delicate jet engines and thus put passengers in jeopardy.

In a statement to news organizations, a spokeswoman for the airline said: "There was no visible volcanic ash cloud or any other presence of volcanic ash and the post-flight inspection revealed no evidence of volcanic ash on the airframe, wings or engines.

"The absence of any volcanic ash in the atmosphere supports Ryanair's stated view that there is no safety threat to aircraft in this mythical 'red zone', which is another misguided invention by the UK Met Office and the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority)," the statement said.

Airlines all over Europe have had to cancel flights because of the ash cloud and fear a repeat of last summer's travel disruptions that led to them losing billions of dollars in lost revenue.

So who are we, the passengers, supposed to believe? The air authorities who claim to have our best interests at heart or a low-cost carrier who has a history of putting profits ahead of people.

I'd rather be safe than sorry - so sorry Ryanair, I won't take a chance on you.

Low class Ryanair ups fees again

The day budget airlines in Europe started charging to use bathrooms aboard flights – I’m not kidding – that’s the day they went from being “low cost airlines” to “low class airlines” in my opinion.

And the sky is the limit with these low class carriers when it comes to passing along fees to you.

The latest is what amounts to a $3 (U.S.) levy Ireland’s Ryanair is charging passengers on all flights in order to cover costs of flight cancellations, delays and to meet obligation guidelines set down by the European Union for “force-majeure” incidents.

That’s on top of the fuel surcharges, extra baggage fees and of course the bathroom usage levy that Ryanair is already taxing passengers with.

The low class carrier has endured 15,000 flight cancellations and delays over the last year and Ryanair says that’s cost them almost $200 million.

Hey folks, when it comes to low class airlines, you get what you pay for and with Ryanair that’s not much. Next they’ll be charging for seat cushions – oops, I hope I haven’t given them another money-making scheme to sit on!
